Our Mission
Our mission is to minister to the "lost" while sharing the “good news of God’'s wonderful kindness, unconditional love and provision”, through community outreach.
In fall of 2008, two individuals with big hearts, stepped out in faith. New Mount Moriah church in Mt. Clemens opened it’s arms to the community by partnering with Providence, donating space in their building.
The mission was to provide a “place of rest” for those who were struggling in life.
The ministry began with 3 volunteers, 3 bags of clothes and 80 hot dogs. As clothing donations started to come in, clothes were hung on the back of chairs and shoes were lined up down the aisle leading to the pulpit.
Coffee and a small meal of soup was prepared in crock pots from home.
Nevertheless, the doors were open to those in the community with great needs; homeless, ex-offenders, at-risk youth, domestic violence victims, mentally disabled, drug addicts, sex offenders and others.
After much prayer and discovering Craig’s list, used racks arrived; things began to take shape. One of the rooms was used to fold and sort clothing on tables.
Since 2008, Providence Ministries has served over 10,000 meals in the community, clothed more than 3,500 individuals and their families, facilitated over 500 hours of support groups and provided thousands of successful referrals for housing, healthcare and other needs.
